Regenerating Notes
After Scope generates a note, you can regenerate it at any time — either with the same template to get a fresh draft, or with a different template to restructure the note entirely. Regeneration re-processes the existing transcript, so you don't need to re-record anything.
When to Regenerate
- You want a fresh take on the note without changing templates
- You've updated your template and want the note to reflect those changes
- You want to switch from one note style to another (e.g., SOAP Note to a specialty-specific template)
Desktop
Regenerate with the Current Template
- Open a completed visit.
- Click the template dropdown in the visit header (it shows the name of the currently selected template).
- Select Regenerate current note from the menu.
- A confirmation dialog will appear explaining that regeneration will replace your current note.
- Click Regenerate Note to confirm.
Scope will re-process the transcript and generate a new note using the same template.
Regenerate with a Different Template
- Open a completed visit.
- Click the template dropdown in the visit header.
- Select a different template from the list.
- A confirmation dialog will appear explaining that changing the template will replace your current note.
- Click Refresh Note to confirm.
Scope will generate a new note using the newly selected template and the existing transcript.
Mobile
On mobile, Scope uses a bottom sheet instead of a dropdown, but the steps are the same.
Regenerate with the Current Template
- Open a completed visit and navigate to the Note tab.
- Tap the template dropdown in the note toolbar (it shows the name of the currently selected template).
- A bottom sheet will appear with your templates. Tap Regenerate current note at the top of the list.
- A confirmation sheet will appear. Tap Regenerate Note to confirm.
Regenerate with a Different Template
- Open a completed visit and navigate to the Note tab.
- Tap the template dropdown in the note toolbar.
- A bottom sheet will appear. Tap a different template from the list.
- A confirmation sheet will appear. Tap Refresh Note to confirm.
What Happens During Regeneration
- Your existing note is replaced with a new one generated from the transcript.
- The visit status briefly changes to Generating while the new note is being created.
- Any manual edits you made to the previous note will be lost — make sure you're ready before confirming.
- The transcript itself is never modified by regeneration.
Tips
- If you've customized a template and want to see how the changes look on an existing visit, regenerate the note with the current template.
- Use Ask Scope after regeneration to make quick edits without regenerating again.
- You can search for templates by name in the template dropdown to find the one you need quickly.
